BUZZ - Limavady High School

Class 8A5 in Limavady High School

The Showcase of the BUZZ programme in Limavady High School took place in the school on Monday 29th March ‘04 celebrating all the hard work of class 8A5 over the eight weeks of their programme. During the process of their particular project, the class worked through the issues of drug and alcohol abuse, its physical and psychological effects and its detrimental effects on family life, social life and on communities using the following creative artistic methods:

1 Specialised drugs workshops with Niall Blee from “FIX-IT” (Limavady-based youth drugs group)

2 A Facts and Legislation workshop relating to drugs and alcohol with the Limavady PSNI

3 An Advertising Techniques study

4 A Drama ‘Modelling’ session

5 A Drugs-related Drama Workshop which studied the consequences suffered by a young drug dealer not only to himself but to his family, friends and the community in general.

6 As well as this, the class sampled digital photography, stage make-up methods, developed slogans, enjoyed some painting and drawing, etc.
The culmination of all their hard work was the production of 4 extremely professional posters which were to form an advertising campaign in the Borough of Limavady and well beyond (details of where the posters can be seen are in the Publicity section of this site).
