One of the Verbal Arts Centre’s aims is to encourage reading,
readers and the discussion of books. To that end, we offer opportunities
for children and adults to meet here regularly to talk about their
favourite books, recommend books to others, agree or argue and
generally share ideas about the world of books.
The VAC Readers’ Circle
Mary Murphy hosts this group, which meets on the second Monday
of each month in the coffee house. Last season’s choices
ranged from Booker-nominated Saturday by Ian McEwan, to the darkly
menacing tale of murder that is Patrick Suskind’s Perfume.
New members are always welcome to join in the debates and nominate
books for consideration, so if you want to have your say, or are
burning to wax lyrical about a favourite book of your own, then
contact the centre for further details.
