World Book Day March 2008
The annual World Book Day celebrations took place this year on March 6th. The Verbal Arts Centre organised some events for local and international schools to celebrate the occasion.  In the morning, 3 local schools came to the Centre in turn to work on a local ‘relay’ book.   Fountain Primary School started off the story for the book, St. Eugene’s Primary School picked up where the Fountain left off and completed the middle section and Nazareth House Primary School finished the book during their session.

In the afternoon workshops, it was the turn of some older children to work on a ‘world book’ using the powers of modern technology and making use of the time difference between Australia, Ireland and the USA.  Pupils from Mona Vale Public School, not far from Sydney, wrote the beginning of the book when they came into school on March 6th.  At the end of their school day, they emailed it to the Verbal Arts Centre and the pupils from St. Cecilia’s College wrote the middle section of the story. At 3pm, they emailed the book to Immaculate Heart Middle and High School, Los Angeles, California where the pupils finished off the book.
